Are you an Early Childhood Educator who is interested in making a meaningful impact in the lives of children and their families?  Our Family Centre team might be the right place for you.

As a member of our Family Centre team, you would build relationships and are able to provide information and resources to support the whole family, all while sharing your knowledge of child development and How Does Learning Happen?  We provide family-centred services and work with our larger community to meet the needs of our children and families.

Our Program and Community Support team works directly with children and families to facilitate free EarlyON playgroups at our Centre and throughout the community, both indoors and outdoors. These playgroups provide opportunities for children, families, and caregivers to play, explore, learn, and connect in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment.

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education with proof of membership with the College of ECE 
  • Minimum of two years working with children and their families 
  • Familiarity with community resources
     

Skills Required

  • Positive leadership, excellent communication, and well-developed interpersonal skills 
  • Along with creative programming skills, a highly developed knowledge of child development 
  • Ability to work effectively, both independently and as a team member 
  • Comfortable working with adults as well as children 
  • Strong working knowledge of pedagogical documents such as How Does Learning Happen?
     

Position Responsibilities

  • To work as a Community Connector greeting families and community partners.  Sharing resources and services to people who come in to the center, call or email with questions
  • To be responsible for the operation and supervision of engaging and welcoming playgroups 
  • To be responsible for ensuring high quality service delivery for parents/caregivers and their children, from infancy to six years of age 
  • To ensure the program and environment are stimulating, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate 
  • To ensure a safe, healthy environment at all times 
  • To actively participate as a member of the team 
  • To complete additional tasks as assigned by the Program Coordinator 
     

Work Environment 

  • Physically active role requires walking, running, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and safely lifting
    up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to engage in active play and respond promptly in emergency situations.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels due to group activities
     

Compensation

Starting pay range for a $26.75 - $27.29 per hour (includes the Ontario Wage Enhancement Grant).
