SCHOOL AGE PROGRAM SUPERVISOR – 2025/2026 School Year

We are currently recruiting for School Age Program Supervisors to become part of our talented and committed child care community for our Before and After School Programs.

Term & Hours of Work

  • Hours of work: Monday through Friday (split shifts) from approximately 7:15AM - 9:00AM and 2:15PM-6:00PM or 3:15PM-6:00PM from September through June, following the elementary school calendar. Hours may vary with program, location and position.
  • Possibility of additional full-day shifts on PA Days, March Break, and Winter Break at various locations based on program needs.
  • Locations are in various elementary schools throughout London and surrounding areas.
  • Term Educators are assigned to one specific program site for the full school year, working approximately 18-25 hours per week. Every effort is made to place term staff close to home. 
    Supply Educators work in multiple locations based on availability and program needs. Supply educators are required to be available at a minimum of five (5) program sites, for at least three (3) shifts per week, including at least one (1) afternoon shift. Hours of work are dependent upon availability, position and program.

Candidates who are available Monday through Friday to work all split shifts during the school term, have access to a reliable vehicle, and can travel to multiple locations may be considered for our Permanent Supply List.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Early Childhood Leadership (ECL), Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, or members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience in a licensed child care setting that receives Director Approval is required.
  • ECEs must be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE).
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with children between 4 to 12 years of age is an asset.
  • Valid Standard First Aid with Child & Infant CPR - Level C required.
  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age or older to obtain a current Vulnerable Sector Check for employment purposes (less than 6 months old).
  • Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health, Ministry of Education.
  • Experience supporting children with special needs and/or behavioural challenges is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong understanding of the needs and developmental stages of school age children
  • Excellent program planning and interpersonal skills to create engaging, developmentally appropriate activities and build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, LCC’s Policies & Procedures and Program Statement, as well as Ministry of Education regulations.
     

Position Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a quality Before and After School Program for children 4 to 12 years of age.
  • Ensure the supervision and safety and well-being of the children in the program through responsible supervision and decision making.
  • Encourage parent participation and maintain effective communication with families about their child’s experience in the program.
  • Create a balanced program of activities suitable for a before and afterschool program that provide a positive and engaging start and end to the children’s school day.
  • Foster the children’s curiosity and facilitate activities based on their interests and needs.
  • Build positive relationships with the children, families and school community.
  • Maintain accurate records (e.g., attendance, incident reports etc.) and completing certain administrative duties, snack preparation, inventory management, and program supplies as required.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning opportunities and maintain all required certifications.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies and occupational safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations.
  • All successful applicants will receive orientation and ongoing professional learning support.
     

Compensation

Starting pay range for the Supervisor position is $20.28-$25.69 per hour (includes the Ontario Wage Enhancement Grant). Pay depends on qualifications, experience and position type.

Work Environment 

  • Physically active role requires walking, running, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and safely lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to engage in active play and respond promptly in emergency situations.
  • Work occurs indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions from September to June.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels due to group activities.
     

Employment for the Summer 2024 Program is contingent upon approval from the School Boards to operate the programs, adherence to enhanced health and safety protocols, and program enrollment.
