We are currently recruiting for Program Support Coaches to become part of our talented and committed school age community. As a Program Support Coach, you’ll join a team of school age program staff and Program Coordinators in a supportive role. Your role will assist in creating a sense of belonging and inclusivity in school age programs through aiding in developing safe, consistent and caring relationships. In addition, the Program Support Coach will support program staff in developing routines, environments and Individual Support Plans. This role will require travel to various LCC programs. It will be a Monday – Friday role, before and after school with the possibility of flexing the schedule to support full day programs and to attend the office for meetings and administrative tasks.
 

Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education or related field of study
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with school age children 4 – 12 years
  • Experience in supporting children with experiencing challenges in program, developing support plans and providing trauma-informed care
  • Experience as a mentor or coach is an asset


Skills Required

  • Ability to utilize knowledge of the needs and developmental stages of school age children
  • Strong knowledge of the overall daily routine and expectations of school age programs 
  • Passion for coaching and mentoring team members through a ‘hands on’ role
  • Understanding the value of establishing positive relationships and a sense of belonging for children and families within the school age program
  • Ability to support the Program Coordinator, program staff in connecting and communicating with school staff
  • Understanding of the importance of working in collaboration agencies involved with supporting the child and / or the program
  • Ability to work with the Professional Learning team in identifying and seeking resources to support children and staff 
  • Strong working knowledge of LCC’s program statement, policies and procedures as well as related Child Care and Early Years Act regulations
  • Ability to work effectively in a shared office environment when needed
     

Position Responsibilities

  • Coaching program staff on establishing positive relationships with children and families
  • Aid with identifying the program needs of a child
  • Provide support in establishing consistent routines and practices to support the child
  • Work collaboratively with Program Coordinator, program staff and all other individuals needed to support the child and program
  • Will be required to travel to all LCC programs with the flexibility to pivot and adapt when needed 
  • Schedule program visits with the intention of supporting program staff over a period of time
  • Available for both AM and PM programs 
  • Support the Program Coordinator with developing Individual Support Plans in collaboration with the families
  • Connect with the Professional Learning team for in-office resources, i.e. Reading materials, etc.
  • Provide resource ideas and connect with the Resource Coordinator to request materials if needed
  • Collaborate with AKB Resource Consultant (if available) to support program staff
  • Support the Program Coordinator, program staff in connecting and communicating with the school team
  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned
  • Support staff professional learning by providing small or large group presentations around relevant topics 
  • Connect with outside agencies and resources for extra support / learning if needed
  • Work in collaboration with the Program and Policy Advisor to establish support needs based on Safe Schools reports
  • Cultivate professionalism, confidentiality, and courtesy at all times
     

Work Environment 

  • Physically active role requires walking, running, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and safely lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to engage in active play and respond promptly in emergency situations
  • Work occurs indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels due to group activities
     

Compensation

Starting pay range  $26.40-$27.09 per hour (includes the Ontario Wage Enhancement Grant). Pay depends on qualifications and experience.
