We are currently recruiting for term and supply Child Care Assistants (CCA) and Supervisors to become part of our talented and committed child care community for our Before and After School Programs.

Work Location and Hours of Work

  • Programs operate Monday-Friday 7:15 - 9:00 AM and 2:15 - 6:00 PM from September through June, following the elementary school calendar.  Hours may vary with program, location and position.
  • Locations are in elementary schools all across the city of London and surrounding areas (Delaware, Dorchester and Caradoc).
  • Possibility of additional full-day shifts on PA Days, March Break, and Winter Break at various locations based on program needs.
     

Supply Positions work in multiple locations of their choosing based on availability and program needs. Supply educators are required to be available at a minimum of five (5) program sites, for at least three (3) shifts per week, including at least two (2) afternoon shifts. Hours of work are dependent upon availability, position and program. Term Positions are assigned to one specific program site for the full school year, working approximately 18-25 hours per week. Every effort is made to place term staff close to home.

Compensation

Starting pay range for a $20.25-$26.40 per hour (includes the Ontario Wage Enhancement Grant). Pay depends on qualifications, experience and position type.

Additional Qualifications for Working with Children with Diverse Needs: 

Developmental Services Worker (DSW), Autism and Behavioural Science, Educational Support and other related fields and/or combination of relevant experience.

Additional Qualifications for Supervisors:

Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Early Childhood Leadership (ECL), Child and Youth, Recreation and Leisure, or members in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience in a licensed child care setting that receives Director Approval is required. 

Skills Required

  • Excellent program planning and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member.
  • Knowledge of the needs and developmental stages of school age children.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, LCC’s Policies & Procedures & Program Statement, as well as Ministry of Education regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment through active supervision.
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for before and after school programs.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • Support children’s well-being, belonging, and engagement. 

Work Environment 

  • Physically active role requires walking, running, kneeling, standing for extended periods, and safely lifting up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to engage in active play and respond promptly in emergency situations.
  • Work occurs indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions from September to June.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels due to group activities.
